Volunteer of the month - April, 2011

Presenting to you the Volunteer of the month for April…… DURGA SHINDE!!!

Durga has been a consistent volunteer with Toybank since December, 2010. She has also participated in the SCMM Marathon for cheering Toybank. Since then she has been a part of Toybank in most of our activities. She has attended a distribution event and has helped us in follow-up sessions at our play centers in the month of April.

Toybank: What brought you to volunteer with us?
Durga: The unique and noble cause of providing toys to impoverished children and hopes to be able to give every child in the world that needs a toy to play with. I love supporting this cause so taking Toybank as an apt opportunity for me to serve back to that significant part of society which I care about. Thanks to Toybank for giving me such an opportunity to be a part this phenomenal work.

Toybank: What is your most memorable experience with Toybank?
Durga: Be it
i) a toy wrapping session with Toybank teammates,
ii) playing cricket, football, or dumb charades with YMCA boys,
iii) encouraging kids through art workshop at Salaam Baalak Trust to rethink the way they view discarded materials and to seek creative solutions for their reuse,
iv) teacher training at Parivartan getting familiarize with fun and educational toy games.
v) toy distribution for children at across centers.
With Toybank every moment is funTOYabulous experience. Herewith Toybank I’m a child again… reminiscing childhood.

Toybank: What do you think about volunteering in general?
Durga: Volunteering is a comprehensive platform to support a worthy cause which is dear to those who want to serve back to society. It gives you the chance to make a difference in the community.

Toybank: What keeps you motivated to volunteer?
Durga: It is the children's smiling, cheerful faces motivate me.
