Toy collection drive at Podar School, Bombay!

The Joy of Giving Week was celebrated from 27th September to 3rd October 2009. The Joy of Giving initiative is a national movement, that aims at engaging Indians in different “acts of giving” money, time, resources and skills.

Podar High School, Santacruz celebrated joy of giving on the 29th of September 2009 with “Toybank”. Mrs.Pal (Headmistress Podar School) wholeheartedly supported the initiative by organizing toy collection in their school . The toys collected were given to Toybank. Students of primary section of Podar School consisting of Nursery,Jr.Kg and Sr.Kg participated in this event. The children had got toys from their homes, they had wrapped them neatly, labeled them and filled them in big bags. Some were happy with the idea of helping those in need, whereas some were not too happy with the idea of parting with their toys!

To complete the purpose of the initiative and to ensure that it was understood by the children we had our newly joined Toybanker Priyanka Mallik who addressed the children about the initiative and also taught them values of sharing, caring, being sensitive towards their environment and to be able to make a difference in whatever way possible - a satisfying and memorable experience for the 4 yr olds and for all the Toybankers too!

Toybank received "51 huge gunny bags of toys" :-) which is close to over 1000 toys from Podar school!

Pictures will hit the blog soon!
